Sustainability

The Allston Brighton CDC is dedicated to a stable neighborhood where families of all kinds want to stay for the long term. We seek to conserve and sustain local natural resources as a way to improve the quality of life in

Renew Boston

RenewBoston

We are the Allston Brighton partner for the City of Boston's Renew Boston initiative, which offers free home energy assessments and upgrades to qualifying Boston residents. Partnering up with NSTAR and National Grid, Renew Boston offers Boston residents and landlords a low-hassle way to lower their energy bills, increase the value of their homes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Depending on assessment results, upgrades may include air sealing, home insulation, and smaller energy-efficient products such as low-flow showerheads, programmable thermostats, and CFL light bulbs. Information is available about additional programs, such as rebates for purchases of energy-efficient appliances and 0%-interest loans for more extensive energy-efficient upgrades such as solar hot water heaters.

This work is available to homeowners and to renters. For questions, contact Gustavo Quiroga at 617-787-3874 ext. 217, or else contact Renew Boston directly at 617.635.7283.

Greening Our Buildings

We are a part of Boston LISC's CDC Green Retrofit Initiative, a collaborative of Boston-area CDCs that are analyzing energy usage in their housing portfolios and implementing energy-efficient retrofits based on the results of that analysis.
